The story family
One family, 5 generations, nearly 150 years of heritage. This heritage is above all that of a passion for hospitality, the joy of receiving guests with warmth and professionalism. Today, the Chalet Mounier is a benchmark hotel in the area, with its Michelin-starred restaurant and spa, and its reputation is well established, with a history that spans the ages.



The history of Chalet Mounier is above all that of a family. The adventure began in 1879, at a time when Les Deux Alpes had neither luxury hotels nor ski lifts.
Pierre Balme set up a refuge there, with two bedrooms and a dining room, which was later taken over by his son, Daniel, and then by his granddaughter, Marie.
In 1933, she and her husband, Hippolyte Mounier, opened the resort's first hotel.
In 1971, Robert Mounier took over and, with his wife Georgia, transformed the hotel into an exceptional place with swimming pools, a spa and a gourmet restaurant that was awarded a Michelin star a few years after its opening.
Today, Robert and Georgia's son Alban and his wife Angélique continue the tradition of hospitality and high quality in this friendly, family-run establishment!
